KYOKUDOKAIKAN HISTORY
Kyokudo kaikan (極 度会館) is a style of "full contact karate", or Knockdown karate, founded in 2010 with dojo and its aiming to have students in various countries around the world. The core emphasis in Kyokudo is a system of techniques employed with the goal of turning an opponent's power and momentum against him or her and repositioning oneself to the opponent's "blind" spot to counterattack from a more advantageous position. Although Kyokudo is a "stand-up fighting" style that includes kicks, strikes, grab and punches to the face and to the body found in most other styles of karate, it also utilizes numerous , sweeps, and throws often associated with Judo or other grappling styles of martial arts.
Kyokudo was founded by Soke (Grandmaster and Founder) Newman Simakuhle who directs the Kyokudo Karate from the honbu in South Africa. The a full-contact/ knockdown karate rules competition held annually in Uitenhage, South Africa and open to advanced martial artists from any style or school.
The 1st National Seminar and assessment Kyokudokaikan was held in - 31 -1 June 2014 and it was when a Nidan from Kyokushinkan was assessed and August it was the second Dan Test. In 4-5 July 2015 was the date of the 2nd Kyokudokaikan National Seminar and assessment and this time was 4 Black Belt was assessed 3 from Shorin Kempokaikan and 1 from IKO(1) Kyokushinkaikan
MEANING OF KYOKUDOKAIKAN
Kyokudo is derived from Japanese word or kanji:" meaning "extreme,” relates to the circular movement inherent in the Kyokudo Method. However, to suggest that studying Kyokudo is continuous journey, i.e. a process and not an end that is most important. "Kaikan" basically means "organization."
